"Pack Up Your Troubles"
by Dan Keefe |
In recent years, several pet-sitting operations have cropped up in the Capital Region. Many of them offer more than just a walk around the block for the family dog.
Rita Marie
Rowney, owner of Homebuddies Professional Pet Sitting in Schenectady, said both pets and their
owners are less anxious when the pet stays at home instead of going to a kennel.
"The dog can stay in his own home, in his own environment." she said. "It's a lot less
stressful for some animals."
"When (the pet owners) see their pets are
comfortable with me, then they feel less anxiety leaving them." Rowney added.
In addition to animal care, the pet sitters will also bring in the mail, water the plants
and even turn
lights on and off or change the blinds to make it look as though someone is home.
